King's News: 2010 A level results

A Level results have published this week and the big news is the addition of a new A* grade. At King's our Leaver's have achieved a series of "best ever" grades. Sixteen pupils have achieved straight A grades, four of whom achieved straight A*s. 15% of all grades awarded to King's pupils were the new top A* grade. 74% of all grades were A*-B and 89% were A*-C with a 100% pass rate. The leavers of 2010 have set a very high benchmark and have a bright future ahead of them and over 93% as a result have achieved their first or second choice of university place.
Amelia Shean (18, pictured front left) with 3 A* Grades in English Literature, Geography and Philosophy is headed for Oxford,
"The King's teachers have been wonderful and I am so thrilled that all that hard work has paid off in the end."
"A top 10 school for added value"
King's is a small school environment nestled in the beautiful river valley town of Bruton in Somerset. We focus our passion for education on each individual pupil and we can do this because of the school's size - 320 pupils and 70 teaching staff which means we have small classes.
A strong Christian ethos underpins our education, which we balance between academic, pastoral and extra-curricular activities. We foster depth of character, moral and spiritual stability, a clear sense of service and humility.
Founded in 1519, King's is 491 years old, today you will find us a modern co-educational school for both day pupils and boarders aged 13-18, there are 4 boys and 3 girls boarding houses.
Our extensive grounds and playing fields are immaculate and cater for a wide range of sport, we also have a 200 seat theatre. King's offers superb facilities for The Sciences, Music, Art and Design & Technology. Education takes place over 6 days, with an active programme of music, performance arts and participation in sports on Saturdays.
